Glossary
Private household
A person or group of persons who occupy the same living accommodation and share mutual arrangements regarding groceries and meals, share a mutual main living room and make use of a mutual kitchen.
The general fertility rate
The number of births in the neighbourhood in the year preceding the census per 1,000 women aged 15-49 years in the neighbourhood as counted in the census. It is calculated as: (number of births in the year preceding the census / number of women aged 15-49 years) x 1,000
Hindrance of air pollution (%)
Percentage of households reporting discomfort in the immediate vicinity because of air pollution (soot, smoke or stench)
The participation rate 15+
This number indicates the ratio of the total economically active population (aged 15+) to the total population (15+)
The unemployment rate
Percentage of unemployed persons (i.e. persons without work, but currently available for work and seeking work) in the labour force (i.e. the economically active population; either employed or unemployed).
The population with a native background
Those persons who are born in Curaçao and whose parents are both born in Curaçao.
First generation migrants
Those persons who are born outside Curaçao, i.e. foreign-born persons.
Second generation migrants
Those persons who are born in Curaçao but have at least one foreign-born parent.
